At Intrum we put our Values into practice!
Our People
Guided by the values and the international know-how of the Intrum Group, Intrum Hellas has succeeded in its first 2.5 years of operation in the Greek market to stand out at all levels. In an extremely unstable environment due to the pandemic, the company managed to highlight Greece as a main strategic market for the Intrum Group and to have a leading role in the developments of the sector. The focus and factor of this success are our people, our driving force, in whom we consistently invest as a priority. At Intrum Hellas we create an environment of trust, recognition and continuous growth by being an employer of choice. Staying true to our values (Empathy, Ethics, Dedication, Solutions), we prioritize the work safety and well-being of our people so that they remain creative and maintain a high degree of commitment. The first step and prerequisite is to actively listen and act accordingly. Internal surveys, an integral part of our culture, are conducted at regular basis throughout the year and cover all aspects of everyday work; from strategy and transformation to health and wellness. More than 95% of employees actively participate in these surveys each time, recognizing that their opinion is important and is being taken into account.
Health and Safety
Facing today's needs, we establish the hybrid work model, showing in practice the trust and recognition of the commitment of our people and offering the necessary flexibility for professional and personal life balance. As a company, we also managed to adapt very quickly to remote working, required due to the pandemic, keeping the commitment and efficiency of our people stable. At the same time, over 95% of employees stated that they felt completely safe with the company’s management of the pandemic mainly during the period of restrictive measures. The spread of Covid-19 remained almost at zero levels within the company due to the fast reflexes, the effective measures, the flexible operating model and of course the excellent cooperation of the staff. At the same time, the constant collaboration with a specialized provider for a 24-hour psychological support line for employees and their families, the individual sessions as well as the specialized group discussions were a valuable “companion” during this special period, shielding the mental health of our people. Our strategic and permanent tactic is to communicate and discuss with all staff transparently important issues and developments and at the same time to further strengthen the long-term relationship of trust with benefits such as e.g., Intrum’s Professional Insurance Fund, which is the first fund of its kind established in our market sector in Greece.
Professional growth
Another important aspect concerning our people is the professional growth opportunities to remain competitive in an environment in which market conditions are constantly changing. The company invests annually in more than 14,000 hours of training at all levels of hierarchy and across the range of technical knowledge and skills (covering >90% of staff). Putting the theory into practice, new jobs are offered to existing staff as a priority and subsequently result in an external search for candidates only if required, giving everyone the opportunity to progress to new roles and responsibilities within the company. New talents are also a strategic axis in which we invest significantly, giving them the opportunity to work and mature professionally at Intrum alongside established professionals in Greece and abroad. For this purpose, we participate in a series of actions, such as the organization of conferences at universities, the subsidization of internships for students and also the announcement of a monetary award for a program for graduate students in partnership with the Athens University of Economics. In this context, we are also implementing a pioneering program for the Greek market of the Intrum Group, the Next Generation Program, which highlights Intrum Hellas as a Greek company with a truly international dimension. This program provides the opportunity to young professionals to work at Intrum, following a specific growth plan and support with the aim of becoming the future leaders of the Group. It includes specialized training in Greece and abroad, exchange of participants between the participating countries, on-the-job training and mentoring. It is a complete program during which the participants are Intrum employees but with the main goal and object of preparing them for the future.
Sustainable development and corporate responsibility
Sustainable development is completely intertwined with Intrum's strategy and way of operation as reflected in our values and policies. Our purpose is "leading the way to a sound economy" through debt restructuring solutions and business consolidation with respect for vulnerable groups, is directly linked to the offer to the wider society through the orderly operation of businesses and the well-being of households. At the same time, we implement a series of actions with the aim of strengthening the concept of volunteerism, social contribution and teamwork. These actions have a charitable nature to support specific social groups or focus on the protection of the environment. In addition to organizing specific actions to protect the environment, we adapt our daily operations accordingly, strengthening the effort to limit energy consumption and environmental pollution, aiming at annual energy savings of over 20%. Indicative examples of actions are the campaign to limit printing, the subsidization of an annual public transportation card, recycling, limited operation of air conditioners, the replacement of a fleet of company cars with hybrids etc. At the same time, we actively participate in additional actions through the Hellenic Association of Loan and Credit Receivables Management Companies to strengthen financial literacy for children while we co-organize actions for the protection of the environment and charities. As gender equality is an important aspect of our ESG goals, 59% of the company's employees are women and 41% are men. What differentiates us further is that this percentage remains unchanged even at the highest hierarchical levels of the company, proving our commitment to equal development opportunities. At Intrum we contribute all together to sustainable development with a common vision and in line with our Values.
At Intrum, our people are our strength and our priority! Guided by our Values, we create together a corporate culture that is based on bonds of trust, equally enhances development and promotes teamwork. We invest in creating an environment of safety, prosperity and opportunity, byy strengthening the commitment of our people on leading the way to a sound economy and sustainable development.Maria Fatzikmanoli, HR Director, Strategic Market Greece
